War on Christians


Within a few hours in Egypt and Pakistan and fundamentalist Islamic fundamentalist fury has targeted churches and Christians. I wonder: can the international community tolerate incidents like the burning of houses of worship or execution of capital punishment in compliance with laws against blasphemy?

Sras Lanouf, minister for minorities of Pakistan, assassinated on March 2 last year, should sound a warning signal not only to Holy See, but also to Western countries, primarily the European Union and the USA, who need to insist on the states that characterize their laws with the precepts of a religious, respect for ethnic, linguistic and religious threatening even the 'break every trade and diplomatic relations if they are not complied with these basic principles of peaceful co-existence contained in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion; this right includes freedom to change religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and observance rites.
